On June 6th, Cisco announced its intention to acquire Sentryo. With organizations digitizing and connecting their industrial operations, the combination of Cisco network architecture and Sentryo capabilities of giving visibility into industrial control systems will help companies deploy Industrial IoT at scale, achieve new levels of flexibility, and better protect their assets and operations.
Cybersecurity of the Industrial Internet is a new field and deployments can take time as it is sometimes necessary to modify the infrastructure to be monitored (switch, collection networks). Integrating ICS cybersecurity within network equipment as we do with our Edge architecture is the only way to secure industrial networks at scale. This is what we started doing a while back with Cisco and this is one of the main drivers for this acquisition.
“This is a great opportunity for Sentryo to accelerate solutions for ICS cybersecurity. We are very proud that the technology developed by Sentryo has been chosen by Cisco to become a key part of its IoT security offering. This is an important sign of recognition for the entire Sentryo team that will continue to offer the best technology enabling global organizations to ensure continuity, resilience and safety of their industrial operations.” said Thierry Rouquet and Laurent Hausermann, Sentryo’s co-Founders.
This announcement is great news for our customers as we will further enhance our integration with industrial networks to enable broad deployment, limiting costs and ensuring stability.
When this acquisition closes by the end of October, subject to regulatory approval, Sentryo will be part of Cisco’s IoT Business and will become Cisco’s worldwide expertise center for ICS cybersecurity.
